Excitement is building as Q4 approaches and the films we have been waiting for all year are about to hit cinemas. With critically-acclaimed award contenders, explosive action movies, epic fantasy journeys, riveting romantic comedies and fun for the whole family, there is a film in Q4 to suit every target audience and here are a few of the highlights...
Tom Hardy blasts onto the screen as the tormented host of an alien parasite in VENOM. Sequel CREED 2 (part of the ROCKY franchise) is expected to pack an even bigger punch than its predecessor and expect under-water action AQUAMAN gets his first solo outing after being introduced in last year’s smash-hit JUSTICE LEAGUE.
A STAR IS BORN starring Lady Ga Ga and Bradley Cooper is hotly-tipped to be a compelling romantic drama as well as an emotional rollercoaster and, bring tissues! Laugh out loud as an unlikely romance unfolds in JULIET, NAKED (starring Rose Byrne and Chris O’Dowd) and root for Jennifer Lopez as she attempts to reinvent herself in SECOND ACT.
MALE / FEMALE
Every year some excellent high-profile thrillers release in Q4. BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE has a stellar cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth and Jon Hamm. The terrifying HALLOWEEN reboot has Jamie Lee Curtis returning to confront Mike Myers. THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB brings THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO back on our screens in a nail-biting new chapter. All three are guaranteed to attract both males and females and keep them on the edge of their seat.
TEENAGERS AND UNDER 24s
The world’s most inept and hilarious secret agent is assigned another mission in JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN. Irish actor Robert Sheehan heads up fantasy epic MORTAL ENGINES based on the best-selling young adult series of the same name. FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD needs absolutely no introduction and transports us to the enchanting world of 1920’s Paris.
This year’s award-tipped movies are already creating buzz and are ideal for targeting older audiences. FIRST MAN is the latest from the director of LA LA LAND and chronicles the legendary space mission that led Neil Armstrong (played by Ryan Gosling) to become the first man to walk on the Moon. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is the story of Queen and Freddie Mercury’s rise to fame. WIDOWS is the latest from Oscar veteran Steve McQueen (12 YEARS A SLAVE, SHAME, HUNGER) and is also notable for putting Liam Neeson and Colin Farrell on screen together for the first time ever. All look set to scoop up honours and admissions.
THE WHOLE FAMILY
RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2 brings the world’s clumsiest heroes back for another adventure featuring cameos from many well-known Disney characters. SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE takes the popular franchise in a totally different dimension, as we explore a parallel universe where more than one Spider-Man exists. MARY POPPINS RETURNS is the sequel to one of the most iconic family movies ever made and looks every bit as magical.
