Our H2 2017 Upfront took place on the 14th June at the Irish Film Institute. Agencies and clients gathered to listen to research presented on the cinema going audience and to hear about what will be hot on cinema screens during the second half of 2017.

Eoin Wrixon, CEO of Wide Eye Media, discussed the biggest movies to look out for this year. They were divided in to four main categories - Family, Ladies' Night, Male Blockbuster and the Unmissable Movies of 2017.

Family movies that were highlighted at our H2 2017 Upfront included the much anticipated sequel to Paddington, Paddington 2, the second spin-off installment from The Lego Movie,The Lego Ninjago Movie and finally Captain Underpants.

Ladies' Night included Battle of the Sexes starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell, Everything Everything and finally Pitch Perfect 3.

The Male Blockbuster category included the latest reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise, Spider-Man Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Justice League and Star Wars: The Last Jedi were also highlighted in the Male Blockbuster Category.

The Unmissable movies of 2017 included Dunkirk, an action/war story centered on the battle of Dunkirk. Atomic Blonde, starring Charlize Theron, The Hitman's Bodygaurd and Blade Runner 2049 were also highlighted.The Snowman, starring Michael Fassbender, Murder on the Orient Express, a film based on the 1934 novel of the same name and finally IT, a remake of Stephen King's classic book "IT" were also highlighted on the morning as the unmissable films of 2017.
